Botox FAQ’s
Does it hurt a lot?
The injections are not pain-free but the discomfort is quite tolerable. Sometimes using a topical numbing cream like Emla can make the injection less painful. Most people seem to be just fine without it.
Will I bleed?
The needle is very small, in order for the doctor to be precise in his placement of the neurotoxin therefore bleeding is quite minimal. In fact, when he is done you barely even see where he had put the needle to begin with.
Are there any side effects or risks with Botox / Xeomin?
Like all procedures it does not come without risk or potential complications. Some post-treatment discomforts can be: swelling, redness and bruising. There is the possibility of a weakened tear duct. The possibility of infection and allergic reaction. Less than 2 % of patients may experience a droopy eye that usually goes away within 2 to 3 weeks.
