First let’s start with – What is PRP?
By definition it is Platelet-rich plasma. This still may hold little meaning for the first timer who maybe never heard of this before, so here goes a more in-depth definition. Whole Blood is removed from the client and is ran through a centrifuge (looks a little like a paint can mixer, only not) the machine rapidly spins the blood sample, separating out the other components from the platelets and concentrating them within the plasma. Plasma can then be injected back into the patient for a variety of clinical outcomes. PRP injections are becoming popular for hair restoration and skin rejuvenation and here at The Naked Truth® we will be offering them both.
* Note that this service is only available at our Langley location.
Price
- Single treatment based on one vial of PRP $800
- Hair Restoration PRP package of 3 treatments $ 2200.00
Benefits of PRP
- We use the client’s own bioactive platelet rich plasma which their body will willingly accept without allergy or infection.
- PRP is rich in growth factors which stimulate stem cells, a much-desired response
- Bioactive proteins initiate regeneration and repair, great for the hair follicle and the skin cells.
- Dermal injections utilize the body’s own tissue to restore, regenerate, and rejuvenate aged or damaged skin, even smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.
- PRP also can have a filling effect for volume restoration, this is great in the lips especially once the tissue has become dehydrated and cracked looking.
- It improves skin texture, a much-loved feature for those suffering with acne scarring.
- And last but not least PRP addresses hair loss, especially male patterned baldness.
Procedure- how does the whole thing happen?
- Venipuncture – whole blood is removed from the patient in a simple virtually pain free draw lasting only a few short seconds.
- Separation of plasma from the red blood cells using the centrifuge machine mentioned above.
- Intradermal/hypodermal injection of PRP into the desired treatment area. (face, lips, neck, hands, scalp)
- The injection causes mild inflammation that triggers a healing cascade.
- The collagen matrix matures and shrinks leading to tightening and strengthening of the tissue
Recommended Protocol
- Between 1 to 3 treatments is recommended but up to 6 is also highly beneficial
- There is no limit to the number of treatments as they’re always safe and beneficial.
- Any NSAID’s should be discontinued at least one week prior to the treatment.
FAQ’s
Does it hurt? (Yep we started with what everyone really wants to know)
So we would be lying if we said you can’t feel anything but the doc is a treasure and her blood draw skills are top drawer, you barely feel a thing. As for the treatment, she can numb you if needed but she’s also talented in this department too and so far everyone says it’s a breeze.
How long does it take?
The blood draw is quick and easy so while it runs through the centrifuge you can be resting or numbing or just enjoying a little quiet time in your day. About 20 minutes here, and then another 15 to 30 for the treatment depending on the area.
What areas do you do PRP on?
PRP can quite literally be used almost anywhere but here at The Naked Truth Langley we offer it for the face and neck, the lips. The décolletage, back of the hands and of course for hair restoration~ the head.
How long between treatments if I need more than one?
There should be 4 to 6 weeks between treatments so that maximum collagen production and healing can take place prior to further tissue disruption.
When will I see results?
That’s a great question, we likely should’ve put it at the top alongside of does it hurt? Depending on the area this answer an vary. With lips for example you would notice a difference immediately, although there is also swelling here and that takes a few days to subside. The face will improve as time goes on with visible results immediately and then more as collagen production kicks in, up to 4 weeks post treatment for full results. With hair restoration, you have to allow more time for those baby follicles to start making an appearance. One treatment is not usually enough here ( which is why we offer only a 3 treatment plan) but if you have 3 you should start to see results within 3 to 6 months of the first treatment
