Does it hurt a lot?

The injections are not pain-free but the discomfort is quite tolerable. Sometimes using a topical numbing cream like Emla can make the injection less painful. Most people seem to be just fine without it.

Will I bleed?

The needle is very small, in order for the doctor to be precise in his placement of the neurotoxin therefore bleeding is quite minimal. In fact, when he is done you barely even see where he had put the needle to begin with.

Are there any side effects or risks with Botox / Xeomin?

Like all procedures it does not come without risk or potential complications. Some post-treatment discomforts can be: swelling, redness and bruising. There is the possibility of a weakened tear duct. The possibility of infection and allergic reaction. Less than 2 % of patients may experience a droopy eye that usually goes away within 2 to 3 weeks. There is sometimes the occasional numbness of the forehead, this too is temporary. Transient headaches and the risk of flu like symptoms. Most side effects are minimal but of course you would contact the Naked Truth Immediately if you had any concern what so ever.

Will it change the way I look?

Ravanesse is an excellent lip injection filler consisting of hyaluronic acid ( something naturally produced in our bodies). Thixofix cross-linking technology makes Ravanesse a cosmetic filler that can be injected more smoothly and feels more natural. It is easier to shape and won’t break down as quickly as some other fillers. Ravanesse kiss is a great lip injection filler for plumper looking lips.

Radiesse consists of calcium hydroxylapatite. Microsphere technology makes it so that over time and multiple uses it stimulates the body into producing more of its *collagen. Though this filler produces immediate results the stimulation and production of natural collagen help to make the results last a year plus.

Sculptra made of Poly – L- lactic acid It works in a deep level of the dermis to help revitalize *collagen production and restore your skin’s inner structure and volume. Following a tailored regime of three injections over the course of three or four months can produce tremendous effects lasting up to two years. A filler to truly consider for deeper lines and folds.

Belotero consisting of Hyaluronic acid this is a very light filler often referred to as a great starter especially for those fine lines around the mouth (marionette lines) Being so light it is able to sit higher in the dermis, therefore, causing far fewer lumps and it doesn’t have a bluish tinge like some others.

Juvederm A malleable filler also consisting of Hyaluronic acid can last up to 12 months although like all fillers the rate of absorption varies. Juvederm has been a popular lip injection filler for the lips but it is also great for other uses and there are plenty of reasons to use this product including lifting the cheeks and filling acne scars. It can help with adding fat back into the face and address loose or sagging skin. It can even be used to reshape the nose giving it a straighter more defined look.

Restylane Another filler containing Hyaluronic acid. It is a slightly more granular gel that can be used in many ways. In recent studies when Restylane is used three times in the first 18 months, it can have lasting effects up to 36 months. There are five fillers in the Restylane family; Restylane, Restylane L, Perlane, Perlane L and Restylane fine lines L.

Does it hurt to get the injections?

Like all procedures it is not without pain. There are things that can be done to ease some of the pain such as topical anesthetics. More often than not people are fine without it.

Will there be any bruising?

Yes there can be some bruising although it usually goes away within two weeks. It can be helped to avoid bruising by discontinuing the use of blood thinners like aspirin, advil, motrin and alleve among others, a week or two before the injections.

I’ve heard of people that get lumps after these injections is this something I should worry about?

Some lumps are common depending on the product and the area of treatment. They usually go away with a couple of weeks and if they don’t you should come bac to The Naked Truth and have the doctor take a look, perhaps he just needs to massage them out for you.

Is there any down time?

This question is up for debate and really is case by case. We’ve noticed that most people just carry on with their day and others feel the need to hide out if there is any swelling as they don’t want to explain to colleagues for example what they were doing on their lunch break. Honestly anyone that feels the need to critique another individuals personal choice doesn’t deserve the concern in the first place.

Side effects? Risk?

Both, yep! Like anything there is always a little risk and some possible side effects. They vary slightly from filler to filler but to list a few of them, they are: acne like skin eruptions, asymmetry, bruising, bleeding, swelling, damage to the skin that may result in scarring. Infection, lumps, palpability of the filler under the skin surface, itchy skin rash, under / over-correction of wrinkles, blindness, skin necrosis from loss of blood flow.
