There is a slight difference between tattooing and microblading. In the latter process, the pigment is applied at a depth that makes it semi-permanent, but not so thick, that it stays permanently. This also decreases the pain caused during the process.

It takes approximately two hours to complete the initial process, and a significant part of it is spent to ensure that the outlines of your brows are perfect. In the next step, I numb the area by applying local anesthetic After waiting for 15-20 minutes for the anesthetic to take effect, I begin placing the pigment into the area where the dermal meets the epidermal. You might experience a pulling and stinging sensation at this stage of the procedure. The degree of pain depends on the sensitivity of your skin, your nervous level, and your ability to withstand pain. This process lasts 30-60 minutes, and most clients end up telling the professional that the procedure was not as painful, as they had expected.

Most clients state that the pain is the same as that experienced during waxing or plucking their eyebrows, or a bit more. However, the result is fantastic, and all of my clients agree that the slight amount of pain is worth the outcome.

Tips to decrease pain during the process

Here are some tips that will help reduce the discomfort or pain during the procedure. If you get the procedure done by me, you can choose one or all of them.

1) Listen relaxing music is very useful as it relaxes your mind and keeps it occupied, providing you with an ambient environment that allows your body to relax.

Learn more about the procedure and come prepared for it as this will make you tackle the discomfort, much of which comes from the “unknown.”

2) Ensure that you are comfortable. You should be looking for soft padding, ambient noise, and more cooling temperature as that offers a spa-like environment over here. All of these things calm down the mind and soothe the pain receptors.

3) Apply lidocaine numbing cream in generous quantities. If necessary, apply two coatings of the same, as certain individuals require more anesthetic creams than others. Remember, some individuals are resistant to an anesthetic. Inform me if you are anesthetic resistant.

4) If you have a history of anxiety, take anti-anxiety pills before the procedure. However, you need not take these tablets if you do not suffer from anxiety disorders.

The Naked Truth Fundraiser

The Naked Truth is hosting their very first fundraiser wrap up party this Friday the 22nd starting at 5 PM until 9 PM. They will be serving appies and may even do a demonstration treatment or two. So close to Christmas yes but totally worth a pop by and a check in. 15 % of proceeds from the week leading up to and including any sales at the party are going to be donated to the Ridge Meadows Hospital foundation in particular to the Mckenney House Hospice care.

We would also like to Thank Tow King Towing Maple Ridge for their generous offer to match the 15% proceeds donated by us.

Microblading Origins

There are many different names that eyebrow microblading goes by such as eyebrow feathering, eyebrow embroidery, micropigmentation, microstroking and 3D eyebrows.

It will depend on the skin type and the individual’s lifestyle just how long the microbladed brows will last as they are semi-permanent. Anywhere from one to three years is the standard. Additionally, the quality of the microblading clinic will dictate how long the eyebrows last.
